A group of researchers from the University of Arizona College of Medicine has discovered the amazing ability of green light. It turns out that exposure to it can reduce the frequency of migraines by half. The study was published in the scientific journal Cephalalgia.
What Color Light is Best for Migraines
The point is this: for two and a half months, it is necessary to irradiate yourself with green light every day for at least two hours. This reduces the frequency of migraines by at least half. The main requirement – a person must see the green light. Therefore, sleeping in the light of such a lamp will have no effect.

The study was conducted for 10 weeks on two groups of thirty people each. The first was irradiated with green light with an ordinary LED-tape, and the second – the tape, which gives the usual daylight. The scientists were astonished by the results: the participants in the “green lamp” group had about a 2/3 reduction in the frequency of headaches. The severity of the headaches also decreased from 8 to 3.2 on a ten-point scale.
Using non-drug therapies like green light irradiation can be of tremendous help to many patients who either don’t want to take medications or don’t respond to them. An added advantage of our approach is that it has no side effects at all. Moreover, this therapy even appears to improve sleep and other quality of life indicators.

Migraines affect one in five adults, regardless of gender. According to WHO, up to 4% of the world’s population suffer from headaches so severe that they are unable to function normally, up to 15 days a month.
Drug treatment does not always help, and many drugs cause severe side effects, and often cost a lot of money. Therefore, the authors of the study believe that their solution can be effective and far from being the most costly treatment for one of the most complex neurological disorders, which is migraine.
